Roberts & Roberts has successfully let the former woolworth unit at Market Place in Hyde to Poundstretcher. The tenant took a long term lease at an undisclosed rent.

From April 2008 changes in the rate relief system mean that property owners who have vacant commercial premises will pay significantly more in business rates than they do under the previous scheme. On industrial property for example prior to 1st April 2008 an owner will pay nothing on vacant premises, under the new scheme they will pay full rates.

It is therefore important that each rating assessment is investigated by a specialist rating adviser, for further details contact Philip Cooke on 0161 477 4212.

Business rates represent a significant proportion of annual outgoings of most businesses, the rating assessment (rateable value) of all non-domestic properties were revised with effect from 1st April 2005. This new rating assessment can be appealed at any point up to the 1st April 2010.
