Business Rates Advice & Appeals
| EMPTY RATES From April 2008 changes in the rate relief system mean that property owners who have vacant commercial premises will pay significantly more in business rates than they did under the previous scheme. On industrial property for example under the previous scheme an owner paid nothing on vacant premises, under the new scheme they will pay full rates. It is therefore important that each rating assessment is investigated by a specialist rating adviser. The rating assessment (rateable value) of all non-domestic properties can be appealed at any point up to the 1st April 2010. The rating team at Roberts & Roberts, headed by Philip Cooke MRICS IRRV, has the benefit of representing an impressive list of national and regional based companies whose premises are located throughout the United Kingdom. Such premises include various retail, office and industrial properties. The team also has extensive experience in dealing with more specialised premises including Local Authority properties such as Schools, Libraries, Museums, Cemeteries etc as well as Golf Clubs, Restaurants and Building Society premises.
